The Build Log documents two builds happening at once: a brand-new house, and the home network that will run through it.
The house exists because of two people. My mother gave us the land - it was her home that came down in Phase 0, and she gave us the ground it stood on so we could build something new there. My father isn't here to see it, but what he left me is what made the build possible. This site is the record of what we do with both of those gifts, from the demolition of the old house to the last patch cable in the rack.
I work in IT, so the network is not an afterthought here. Structured cabling, three racks, PoE for cameras and access points, and every drop planned before the drywall goes up. The Systems section is the live command center for all of it; the posts are the story as it happens, mistakes included.
